Welcome Aboard – Discover the Magic of St. Margaret’s Bay
In 2025, Steve and Johan Marriott proudly acquired Four Winds Charter, continuing a beloved local tradition spanning more than 30 years. Set sail aboard the comfortable and seaworthy Four Winds I, your gateway to exploring the beauty of St. Margaret’s Bay. From relaxing scenic tours and exciting wildlife adventures to fully customized private charters, every trip offers a uniquely Nova Scotian maritime experience. With thoughtful amenities, engaging commentary, and a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, we’re committed to making your time on the water truly unforgettable.
At the Helm – Steve & Johan Marriott
“Our goal is simple: share our love of the sea and make every cruise unforgettable,” says Captain Steve.
Born and raised sailing the waters of St. Margaret’s Bay, he leads a hand-picked team of co-captains and crew who know every hidden cove, local legend, and wildlife hotspot. Steve welcomes you aboard with warm Maritime hospitality while Johan oversees shore-side operations, ensuring each trip runs smoothly. Together with their seasoned crew, they blend deep local knowledge, professionalism, and engaging storytelling to bring the bay to life.
Fun fact: Steve can spot a bald eagle long before most guests find it with binoculars!

Safety, comfort, and enjoyment are always our top priorities. When you sail with us, you're family.
The Boat – Four Winds I
You’ll ride in comfort aboard Four Winds I, our classic 45-foot Cape Island–style tour boat built right here in Nova Scotia. Don’t let her charming traditional looks fool you – this vessel is modern and well-equipped for safety and comfort. Four Winds I is Transport Canada approved and can carry up to 30 passengers, so whether you’re joining a small group or a private charter, there’s plenty of space without losing the intimate atmosphere.
The boat features a heated indoor cabin (wheelhouse) for chilly days and a clean onboard washroom (yes, there’s a restroom on board!). You’ll also love the spacious open deck – perfect for snapping photos of the coastline, watching wildlife, or even enjoying a picnic at sea. With a stable, wide design and all the latest navigation and safety gear, Four Winds I is built for adventure. We often say this boat has her own personality – by the end of your trip, we hope you’ll love her just as much as we do.

Frequently Asked Questions
We still go out in light rain or fog – the ocean can be calm and beautiful even in misty weather. However, safety is our priority. If we have to cancel due to heavy rain, high winds, or storms, we’ll offer you a rescheduled tour or a full refund. (Tip: bring a light rain jacket just in case of sprinkles or sea spray.)
Dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes with good grip (deck surfaces can be slippery when wet). Even on warm days, it can be cooler on the water, so bring a sweater or windbreaker. Don’t forget sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen) and of course your camera or binoculars for the views and wildlife! We provide life jackets and all required safety gear on board.
Yes – our boat Four Winds I has a clean, marine toilet (washroom) in the cabin for your convenience. No need to worry; you’ll have access to a restroom throughout the tour.
Absolutely! Feel free to pack snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, or even a picnic lunch for private charters. Many guests bring water bottles, sandwiches, or coffee for the morning tours. We’ll have complimentary water available on board as well. (Alcohol is not permitted on regular public tours for safety reasons, but can be discussed for private charters with prior arrangement.)
All ages are welcome on our tours! Kids love the boat, and we provide child-sized life jackets for little ones. Children under 12 should be accompanied by an adult, of course. If you have a baby or toddler, you’re welcome to bring a stroller or car seat carrier on board (our crew will help stow it safely). It’s a family-friendly adventure – kids 5 and under even ride free on our Scenic Coastal Cruise.
